{ Monroe reveals how he got his nickname, what his favorite Web sites are to visit and more. }
Eugene Monroe, a star offensive tackle out of the University of Virginia, is being highlighted in an all-new feature on NFLPLAYERS.COM called Prospect Profiles. Monroe was a second-team All-American selection in his senior season and did not allow a sack in two years as the full-time starter at left tackle for the Cavaliers. At 6-foot-5 and 309 pounds, many NFL talent evaluators believe that Monroe has the prototypical size and tools to excel as a pass protector and run blocker at the next level. In his final Prospect Profile, Monroe reveals how he got his nickname, what his favorite Web sites are to visit and more.
The best advice I’ve ever received is …
Just be yourself.
My nickname is …
Moose. I got nicknamed Moose in college, just joking around with teammates in the locker room and talking about old cartoons. I think someone brought up Rocky and Bullwinkle, and then they all started calling me Moose after that.
My pre-game superstitions are …
I really don’t have any pre-game superstitions. When gameday comes around I feel confident that I’m prepared.
My favorite Web sites to visit are …
Engadget.com, CNET.com, IGN.com, Autoblog.com and CrackBerry.com. I’m on those every day. I’m always on ESPN.com too. I’ll definitely start checking out NFLPLAYERS.COM as well.
My friends would describe me as …
Laidback. I’m serious, but overall a laidback and chill person.
My favorite quote or motto is …
Don’t have one.
If I could change one NFL rule it would be …
I’d change holding. I think being an offensive lineman, you get caught up holding so much and it goes without being called so frequently. But then at a crucial point in the game they decide to throw a flag. I think the game would be better without those holding penalties.
I wore No. 75 because …
It was just the number that UVa gave me. I told them I really didn’t care what number I wore, it didn’t matter to me. I’ve been wearing it since my freshman year.
Had I not picked the University of Virginia, I probably would have attended …
Rutgers. It’s second to UVa. Rutgers is right at home and I had so much experience having visited there all the time. I was familiar with the campus, coaches and people there. If not Virginia, it would have been Rutgers.
An NFL team should draft me because …
Like I said before, I am the most ambitious player available.
