Bio

 

2006: Kitna finished the season ranked second in attempts (596), fourth in passing yards (4,208), first in the NFL in completions (372) and ninth in touchdown passes (21). He set Lions single-season passing records with 596 pass attempts and 372 completions, and his 62.4 pass completion rate ranks him second and his 21 touchdown passes rank him fourth. By throwing for over 4,000 yards, Kitna is only the second quarterback in Lions history to accomplish the feat, joining Scott Mitchell (4,338 yards). Kitna’s 4,208 passing yards, 596 attempts, 372 completions, and 156 rushing yards are all new career-highs.

2005: Entered his final season with the Bengals as the backup to Carson Palmer.

2004: Spent the majority of the season as the backup until entering Game 13 at New England (12/12) due a season-ending injury to Carson Palmer.

2003: Received Comeback Player of the Year honors from Associated Press and Pro Football Weekly after leading Cincinnati to an NFL-best improvement from 2002 to 2003 (from 2-14 record to 8-8).

2002: After serving as a reserve for the first four games Kitna revived a struggling Bengals offense when he came off the bench to start final 12 games.

2001: Signed with Bengals on March 8 as unrestricted free agent, won starting quarterback job after preseason competition with Scott Mitchell and went on to start 15 games.

2000: Began the season as the Seahawks’ starter (Games 1-5) before being replaced as starter by Damon Huard for three games (Games 6-8). He replaced an injured Huard at Oakland (10/22) and went on to start seven of final eight games.

1999: Started 15 games and led Seahawks to AFC West title with 9-7 record for the franchises’ first playoff berth since 1988.

1998: Started the final five games for Seahawks after being the deactivated third QB in 10 of the first 11 games.

1997: Opened year with Barcelona Dragons of World League ... Rejoined Seahawks for the NFL season and saw his NFL action.

1996: Signed by Seattle as an undrafted free agent on April 25.
