Heading into the final week of the New England Patriots regular season, Head Coach Bill Belichick announced the launch of his nonprofit organization, The Bill Belichick Foundation in memory of his late father and former college football coach Steve Belichick.  With the announcement came the Foundation’s first fundraiser – an online international raffle for a chance to win two luxury suite tickets to the Patriots final regular season game at Gillette Stadium verse the Buffalo Bills.

Winner of the Bill Belichick Gameday Experience Raffle, Arlyn Weeks of Scarborough, ME, and guest Bob Allen, watched the Patriots 34-20 victory over the Bills on Dec. 29th from Coach Belichick’s suite. Weeks and Allen purchased 10 tickets each at $2.00 a piece which contributed to the $55,000 raised for The Bill Belichick Foundation.

Despite the inclement weather the winners were delighted to have pregame field passes which allowed them to meet Coach Belichick in front of the Patriots bench.  Weeks and Allen ducked out of the rain before kickoff to Coach Belichick’s luxury suite where they were hosted by the Foundation’s Executive Director, Linda Holliday. “It was one of the best Pats experiences of my 47 years a fan,” said Allen.  The prize package for the Bill Belichick Gameday Experience Raffle gave winners a seamlessly easy opportunity to attend the game by including complementary parking, travel allowance if needed and a hotel stay.

Funds raised during the week long raffle will support the Steve Belichick Scholarship Fund which was created in 2003.  Initial beneficiaries were Annapolis High School students who had improved or excelled academically while participating in athletics. Belichick grew up in Annapolis, Md. and his commitment to the area remains strong.  Spring of 2014, the Bill Belichick Foundation will start collecting applications for ten (10) $1000 scholarships for individuals who have improved or excelled academically while participating in athletics.  The Foundation will also provide five (5) $5000 grants to deserving school organizations in need of additional support.  Applications for scholarships and grants will be made available online in the coming weeks.

The Bill Belichick Foundation aims to provide coaching, mentorship and financial support to individuals, communities and organizations.  Focusing on football and lacrosse, its mission is to bring the values of the Belichick family – a love of sports, coaching and team building – to the athletic leaders of tomorrow.  Bill Belichick is in his 39th season as an NFL coach and is the only head coach in NFL history to win three Super Bowl championships in a four-year span.
