NFLPA AGENT DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE ISSUES DISCIPLINE ON THREE CONTRACT ADVISORS

CARD COMMITTEE FINES CONTRACT ADVISOR LOCK
On April 9, 2013, the National Football League Players Association (“NFLPA”) Committee on Agent Regulation and Discipline (“CARD”)  imposed discipline on Ethan Lock arising from his failure to perform sufficient due diligence regarding business relationships to ensure that his responses on his application for certification as a contract advisor were complete and truthful. Lock owned a five percent (5%) interest in a company and represented to the NFLPA that the company did not provide services to athlete clients. According to his responses to our Letter of Inquiry, when he learned those statements to be false, Lock divested his interest in the company.

Lock appealed the CARD decision and a hearing was set before Arbitrator Roger Kaplan.  Prior to the appeal hearing on June 26, 2013, Lock agreed to pay a $5,000 fine.

Metz owned a five percent (5%) interest in a company and represented to the NFLPA that the company did not provide services to athlete clients. According to his responses to our Letter of Inquiry, when Metz learned those statements to be false, Metz divested his interest in the company.

Metz appealed the CARD decision and a hearing was set before Arbitrator Roger Kaplan.  Prior to the appeal hearing on June 26, 2013, Metz agreed to pay a $5,000 fine.

On April 9, 2013, the National Football League Players Association (“NFLPA”) Committee on Agent Regulation and Discipline (“CARD”) imposed discipline on Vance Malinovic arising from his failure to perform sufficient due diligence regarding business relationships to ensure that his responses on his application for certification as a contract advisor were complete and truthful.  Malinovic owned a five percent (5%) interest in a company and represented to the NFLPA that the company did not provide services to athlete clients. According to his responses to our Letter of Inquiry, when Malinovic learned those statements to be false, Malinovic divested his interest in the company.

Malinovic appealed the CARD decision and a hearing was set before Arbitrator Roger Kaplan.  Prior to the appeal hearing on June 26, 2013, Malinovic agreed to pay a $5,000 fine.
